Christina Thornley
Bachelor in Psychology, Masters in Counselling, Australian Counselling Association Registered (level 2) & Grad. Diploma in Medicine (Specialising in Psychosexual Therapy) - current
Christina is a fully qualified and registered Psychotherapist, and experienced Behavioural Practitioner, with her private practice based on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.
Christina's areas of expertise include; avoidance behaviours, unhelpful thinking styles, anxiety, low self-esteem & confidence, unhealthy patterns, attachment disorders, underlying trauma & subconscious memories, setting boundaries, fears of abandonment & trust issues.
Christina is passionate about supporting the emotional and psychological well being of all her clients, during the challenging and difficult times they may be facing. Using a gentle, compassionate, and person-centered approach, Christina works with her clients to help guide and support them on their journey of healing and positive change. She is dedicated to focusing on the root causes of adversities, in conjunction with evidence-based therapies, to provide clients with the understanding they may be seeking, develop healthy coping strategies, and help them to build their own resilience.
Background + Qualifications
Christina was born in Britain and relocated to Australia in 2007, where she later began studying Psychology in 2015, completing a Bachelor's degree at Swinburne University in Melbourne. Then, in 2019 continued on to complete a Master's degree in Counselling at The Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors (AIPC). Christina has also studied at Monash University in 2022, completing a certificate in 'Engaging in Positive Behaviour Support Practices'.
Since then, Christina has gained extensive experience working under the NDIS for the last 2 years, as a Behavioural Practitioner & Specialised Counsellor, supporting those with complex and neurodiverse needs. This includes supporting the client, their family, and providing education and training to their whole care team.
Recently, Christina commenced her Graduate Diploma in Medicine (Specialising in Psychosexual Therapy), at the University of Sydney.
Approach
Christina recognises the challenges we all face are unique, and the importance of providing individualised, person-centred, and evidenced based therapies to all her clients, that are also genuine, compassionate, and non-judgmental.
Christina is passionate about the 'mind and body connection', and assessing how childhood development impacts on our overall functioning. Christina is dedicated to focusing on the root cause of life's adversities, in conjunction with evidence-based therapies, which enables her to view each of her clients as a whole person, and on a deeper level, rather than just focusing on the presenting problem.
Christina is particularly passionate about supporting single women and empowering them to feel whole within themselves, so that they are able to build strong, secure, healthy relationships.

In her free time, Christina enjoys exploring the beautiful Sunshine Coast, and loves to keep fit and healthy. She enjoys spending time with her family, looking after her younger niece and nephews, and taking care of her 3 Guinea pigs & Cocker Spaniel Puppy, Maple.
